Our Classes
EDS adheres to the theory that children learn best through play. Our daily curricula offers a variety of hands-on learning activities and provides experiences for social interaction, inquiry and skill development. The children are provided with a wide range of developmentally appropriate experiences - including art, outdoor play, music, and movement!Hours are 9:00am to 1:00pmSprouts (Older 1s, Younger 2s) Class meets M/W or T/ThSprouts (those who have passed their 2nd bday) can also meet M-Th, or can add a Fri!Seedlings (2s, Older 2s, non-potty-trained 3s) Class meets M/W, T/Th, or M-Th, & can add a Fri to any of those!Buds & Blooms (3s, fully potty-trained only) Class meets M/W, T/Th, or M-Th, & can add a Fri to any of those!Pre-K meets a mandatory M-FClass assignment is made by a Staff Team, and is not based upon any single factor, such as age.
Sprouts (Multi-age): This class is a fun, semi-structured play date for younger 2s, mid-2s, and a few older 1s. Children begin learning social skills while enjoying free play with an assortment of fun, educational toys...and each other! Art projects provide hands-on creative experiences. Outdoor playtime, music time, and story time round out the day. 2 teachers! Class size capped @ 9.
Seedlings (Multi-age): In this class, mid-2s, older 2s, and a few non-potty-trained 3s enjoy plenty of free play and group activities, including story time and teacher-led arts and crafts projects. Children are presented with a variety of educational toys, play centers, and outdoor fun. 2 Teachers! Class size capped @ 12.
Buds & Blooms (Multi-age; must be independent in the restroom):In this class, children continue to foster friendships and increase social skills, and are presented with additional expectations regarding sharing, caring, and taking turns. Through play, children are introduced to basic educational concepts using thematic lessons. Buds & Blooms are mostly age 3 by or shortly after the beginning of school and are independent in the restroom. This room is unable to accomodate non-potty-trained 3s. 2 Teachers! Class size capped @ 12.
Pre-K (Age 4 by September 15): The Day School proudly offers a private Pre-K alternative! This class follows the Epworth Day School Pre-K Curriculum, unique to our school, which includes ALL Content Standards of the Georgia Pre-K Program, plus additional opportunities for children to prepare for kindergarten through play. We see this as a cute, old-fashioned preschool experience that helps keep kids young...we cherish this age! Pre-K meets Monday - Friday. This class boasts 2 full-time teachers and is capped @ 12 students!Registration for 2012-2013 begins February 7. 2012, but is open continuous. Applications can be mailed to EDS as instructed on the package, or placed in Epworth's postal mailbox on the Mell Ave side of the building. Enrollment info for 2012-2013 schoolyear can be found by clicking our 2012-2013 tab above! After the main February/March Registration Season, open spots are always shown on our main page. When classes fill, we always employ a Waiting List. Please note that the EDS Waiting List does not carry over into the next schoolyear (ex - If on the WL for the '11-'12 schoolyear, the family would still need to apply for the '12-'13 schoolyear).
